A new chapter is beginning for this late Belle Époque neoclassical building, an iconic landmark on Avenue Édouard-Dapples in Lausanne and a listed heritage site. Located in the highly sought-after Sous-Gare neighborhood, this century-old building has undergone an ambitious energy renovation, combining architectural preservation, energy efficiency, and enhancement of the existing structure.
The owners wanted to go beyond a simple roof renovation: the project includes raising the height of the building and completely converting the attic space into housing, while respecting the original aesthetics. The attic has been transformed into bright apartments, contributing to the intelligent densification of the urban fabric.
A roof at the crossroads of heritage and solar innovationThe parts visible from the street have been preserved with classic terracotta tiles, while the interior of the building on the courtyard side now features Freesuns VDiamond Terracotta solar tiles, ensuring efficient renewable energy production and discreet integration.
• Solar roof area: 367 m²
• Installed capacity: 29.47 kWp
This choice demonstrates that it is possible to reconcile old buildings and energy transition without compromising on aesthetics.
A project that embodies our commitmentThis project perfectly illustrates our vision: to renovate heritage buildings with respect, intelligence, and innovation, integrating high-quality solar solutions designed to last.
A big thank you to
