Traditional Poolhouse

Project description

The pool house at this villa in Buchillon had a traditional Swiss terracotta tiled roof. The owners had been searching unsuccessfully for a renewable energy solution for their pool house, which matched the surrounding buildings, that the village council would accept. The owners wished to install a photovoltaic roof to generate clean, green power for their two electric vehicles.

In 2020 the owners discovered that Freesuns was developing a tile to replace the traditional terracotta roofs in protected Swiss villages and they were enthusiastic to use it on their pool house. The Freesuns Solaris™ VDiamond Terracotta tile was approved by the village council and the roof was installed in March 2021. The results are stunning and will open the way for photovoltaic energy production on protected and heritage buildings.
