Project description

The villa is located in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage protected Lavaux region in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. The owner's aim was to renovate the house with as close to a zero carbon footprint as technically possible. Freesuns installed full solar coverage of the roof with its Solaris™ Heritage tiles, including Solaredge Hybrid inverters and a solar system battery storage. The solar roof generates energy for the two heat pumps installed in the house, as well as providing power to charge their electric car.

The challenge was to install a solar solution without disrupting the visual beauty of the roof and its surroundings. The construction permit for the solar roof was submitted to the Consultative Commission of Lavaux (CCL), which approved the use of the Freesuns Solaris™ Heritage tile in May 2020.
